My Mission

"To encourage harmonious relationships between horses and people by adhering to sound training principles and using consistent, clear communication."

Meet The Trainer

Linnea was born in the city of Chicago, Illinois and moved to its more rural suburbs when she was 8.  It was there that she fell in love with horses and started taking riding lessons at a local stable within walking distance of her house.  Little did anyone know that horses would become her lifelong passion, dream and professional vocation.

Forty years later, Linnea is still as passionate about horses as she was then.  She has ridden almost every breed and every age of horse.  Starting with hunters and jumpers, she has been riding and showing most of her life with her past fourteen years focused mainly on dressage.

She started teaching in 1985 and it became apparent to those around her that her gift was that of teaching.  Linnea is a USDF “L” Judge, Bronze Medalist and remains an active rider and  competitor.  She has taught and coached many students to National Championships, Regional Championships, USDF Medal Awards and GMO high point and achievement awards.

Linnea believes in adherence to sound training principles and consistent, clear communication with the horse.  She consistently produces relaxed, supple, confident horses regardless of age or breed.  She has a gift for communicating the “feel” of riding.  Her love and compassion for the animal, keen eye, insightfulness into “blocks”, as well as knowledge of the psychological and biomechanical aspects of the horse, have enabled her to break through problem areas that others could not, would not or did not.  Linnea knows how to get you to where you want to be by building on where you and your horse are now.

She teaches with contagious enthusiasm, a sense of humor and imagination.  Occasionally, a new student misses having a stream of confusing "corrections" screamed at him or her.  Linnea finds that such students quickly adjust to the "strange experience" of patient and positive instruction.

As a USDF "L" Dressage Judge graduate, her positive attitude and her desire to educate (rather than berate) come together to give the riders she judges a positive experience. She repeatedly helps riders of all ages to relax, smile, and enjoy their riding and showing experience. Her comments focus on the positives rather than the negatives and she is always heard giving good, constructive and encouraging advice. Many organizations have asked Linnea to come back as a clinician after experiencing her as a dressage judge.
